A cheap and easy costume I made depicting Rorschach from Alan Moore's The Watchmen.

VERY cool!

Hrum. Would like to dress like Rorschach on Halloween too. Trenchcoat currently in possession wrong color. Don't know how outfit would work with black oilskin coat and possibly black boonie hat. At least have method of speech pretty close. ;)

Uh, how well can you see out of that mask? And how'd you make it?

I got no idea. but what I do have is a GED and a 'give-em-hell' attitude and I'll figure it out! - Dean Winchester

Thank you. And as far as getting accurate clothing, just hit up a thrift store. The mask is a white lycra spandex hood and I painted the design on with a few coats of black acrylic paint. I poked tiny holes in the material to see out of.

Oh, and you know the thing about CHAOS?

It's FAIR.

Awesome. I'm gonna have to steal your idea for this Halloween.

Rorschach is the best character in the book in my opinion! I have an idea for all you Rorschach fans costume wise. Cut eye holes in the mask, replace with black see through material. Make different patterns for the mask that work around the eyes, this gives you the illusion of his mask changing if you go to a convention. You can attach the different patterns on with velcro. They sell some that look like little white circles, attach these to the mask and black patterns. And presto changing mask! This solves the problem of getting high from paint fumes like I have read from others on this site LOL!

That's a great idea. I'd love to see someone pull that off. But I'm basically done with my Rorschach costume (check out my other BETTER pics) but I would tackle that someday perhaps.

Hurm.

you know what you should do? I think you should re post this picture, but add some special effects for the mask!or make a brand new one with that effect.

The mask looks incredible - what did you use to make it, and doesn't it hinder your sight/breathing?

It's a simple white spandex hood with some black acrylic to make the blots. The breathing is fine but seeing is another story.

Thank you btw

This is fantastic! Really excellent work! Do your trousers have pin stripes? Also, did you go with brown or purple gloves? The colour and light sources in the book are kind of inconsistant- sometimes his gloves look brown, sometimes purple. Just undo the left shoulder-button-thing and you've got it perfect :D

Love the button, too. ;)
